For Professors!

If you are a professor interested in helping your students cut down on textbook costs this year, here are some suggestions that can be used in the classroom:

  • Inform students of the different, cheaper ways to acquire textbooks, through the school or online
  • Allow older editions of books to be used, since usually only the cover changes from one year to the next, not material
  • Make the book widely available by providing extra copies in the library, office, or classroom
  • Put relevant study material on PowerPoints, or link to open source articles or other free-to-use, online sources
  • Pick less-expensive books to begin with
